Jewellery care
Gold and silver are noble metals, but not indestructible. A few simple habits keep the engraving crisp and the surface bright for years.
The golden rule: last on, first off
Put jewellery on after perfume, lotion and hairspray, and take it off before showering, swimming, sport or sleep. Chlorine, salt water and perspiration speed up tarnish and can dull the surface.
14k gold
Clean with lukewarm water, a drop of mild detergent and a soft brush, then dry with a microfibre cloth. A fine polish can be renewed in the workshop at any time.
925 silver and vermeil
Silver tarnishes naturally; a silver polishing cloth brings back the shine in seconds. For gold vermeil avoid abrasive cloths and chemicals — the gold layer keeps best when kept dry and clean.
The engraving
Hand engraving is cut into the metal, not burnt onto the surface, so it stands up to wear. If residue builds up in the grooves over time, a soft brush with soapy water removes it.
Storage
Store each piece separately, in its box or a soft pouch, away from humidity and direct light. Fasten fine chains before storing so they do not tangle.
